An update on Westwoods BGA’s response to COVID-19

Coronavirus

Whether it’s on social media or the TV and radio, coronavirus or COVID-19 is a topic we simply can’t escape. As much as we would like to try and ignore it, we can’t, and it is having a major effect on people and businesses in Australia.

We have already seen the panic buying around Australia, and as we enter a scenario of potential social isolation, we face the reality of product supply issues, as well as product movement stalling around the world.

As the coronavirus spreads, businesses need to face the possibility of mass absences from the workplace. With that in mind, it is vital that you create a strategy, now, to see your business through the months ahead.

The Team at Westwoods BGA is here to help you weather the global issues raised by COVID-19. We are still here and available at any time that you may need us.

While we do not have all the answers, it is important for us to partner with you to help and plan for the days ahead.

It is easy to get caught up in the panic, but it is important to get your information from a trustworthy source. Westwoods BGA recommends reliable sources like the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Australian Government websites.

As you may be aware, the Morrison Government have announced a Stimulus Package. The package is designed to assist employers in maintaining their employment levels rather than having to reduce their workforce. Here is a summary of what has been announced so far:

  • Immediate asset writes off increased from $30,000 to $150,000
  • Eligible Employers can apply for a wage subsidy of 50% of the apprentice’s or trainee’s wage for up to 9 months (from 1 January 2020 to 30 September 2020)
  • Up to $25,000 (tax free) Boosting Cashflow for Employers of small and medium-sized businesses, with a minimum payment of $2,000 for eligible businesses
  • Households receiving a Government payment will receive $750 from 31 March 2020
  • 1bn to the “Coronavirus fund”

We will share further news as it comes to hand.

We are highly conscious of your business, staff and family needs and equally the well-being of our own team members. If you would prefer to conduct any meetings over electronic communication (Zoom, Skype, etc) or via phone conference we will assist in this manner. Right now, it is business as usual at Westwoods BGA and we are ready to help you build business resilience.
